Capitalism Requires World War | The Vineyard of the Saker

The Saker

by Cathal Haughian

250,000 capitalists read the Financial Times, and it has been our undertaking, since 2010, to chronicle our understanding of capitalism via our book The Philosophy of Capitalism. We were curious as to the underlying nature of the system which endows us, the owners of capital, with so many favours. The Saker has asked me to explain our somewhat crude statement ‘Capitalism Requires World War’. (…)

The present showdown between West, Russia and China is the culmination of a long running saga that began with World War One. Prior to which, Capitalism was governed by the gold standard system which was international, very solid, with clear rules and had brought great prosperity: for banking Capital was scarce and so allocated carefully. World War One required debt-capitalism of the FIAT kind, a bankrupt Britain began to pass the Imperial baton to the US, which had profited by financing the war and selling munitions.

Jill STEIN (Green Party): ‘US needs revolutionary political party to defy the establishment’ ; RT 02.0 3.2016

Martin Zeis, 02.03.2016

Dear all,

following an interview with US presidential hopeful for the Green Party Jill STEIN about his campaign experiences, the needs of a revolutionary political party and the efforts of the bipartisan establishment to prohibit progressive candidates at all costs.

Further attached a commentary by Robert REICH, former Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, about the ongoing rebellion against the establishment of a country, where those at the very top of the top have rigged the system thoroughly, where the average income tax rate for the 400 top-earning Americans has plummeted from 30 percent to 18 percent since 1995, where wealth, power, and crony capitalism fit together, where so far in the 2016 election, the richest 400 Americans have accounted for over a third of all campaign contributions.

„Americans know a takeover has occurred and they blame the establishment for it. … The establishment doesn’t see what’s happening because it has cut itself off from the lives of most Americans. It also doesn’t wish to understand, because that would mean acknowledging its role in bringing all this on.

Yet regardless of the political fates of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, the rebellion against the establishment will continue. Eventually, those with significant economic and political power in America will have to either commit to fundamental reform, or relinquish their power.“ Source: Robert REICH: The End of the Establishment?, 22.02.2016 – URL:

‘US needs revolutionary political party to defy the establishment’ – Jill Stein, Green Party

We are being discovered because we are the only campaign that will defy the establishment by bailing out young people in the way we bailed out the bankers and bailed out Wall Street, Jill Stein, US presidential hopeful for the Green Party, told RT.

RT: Could you please describe your experience running for president as a third-party candidate?
Jill Stein: Well, it is a very exciting and dynamic time. In many ways what the country needs right now is not only a revolutionary campaign, but a revolutionary political party.
There has been an incredible outpouring of support for his [Bernie Sanders] campaign, likewise for the [Donald] Trump campaign. It is interesting that in both political parties the candidates that are doing well are outsider candidates. People in both parties are repudiating their party leadership, and if you look at polls of the American electorate, the biggest chunk of Americans now have rejected both the Democratic and Republican parties. But what our political system does is suppress political opposition, I am sorry to say. So the media tends not to cover us.
There is a rebellion going on in full swing and we are being discovered especially by young people, because we are the only campaign that will truly defy the establishment by bailing out young people in the way that we bailed out the bankers and we bailed out Wall Street. We’re calling out for a bailout of an entire generation of young people – 43 million young people. And it turns out… if they hear about our campaign and come out to vote that is enough to win the race.

RT: Can you explain why an individual like yourself would run as a third-party presidential candidate knowing that the odds of winning are so low?
JS: I think we’re seeing how far you can go to actually address the crises that are throwing people under the bus here in America and very much around the world, that we have incredible economic inequality; we have an environmental and climate crisis; we have endless wars that are continuing to expand, that are making us bankrupt and just generating more terror, not solving the terror problem. We’ve spent $6 trillion on war here in the US over the past 15 years, and we’ve only seen the terrorist threat get bigger. We have a democracy that has been sold out to the big predators: the predatory banks, the Wall Street profiteers, the fossil fuel giants and the war manufacturers.
In order to fix the problem you have to get out from under the political parties that are held hostage by their big funders. I have seen the Democratic Party sell out election after election. It has, what we call, a ‘kill switch’ and it sabotages its progressive candidates, its rebels.
It will take them down, either through the Super Tuesdays, which are very big elections; they require a lot of corporate money to handle the expensive TV advertising. So Super Tuesday is one place where progressive candidates will fail in this system. They have super-delegates, which are party insiders and they run their smear campaigns, which is how they took down, for example, Jesse Jackson, a civil rights reformer who was riding on the strength of the civil rights movement, won 12 major Midwestern primaries. And then he was sabotaged by a smear campaign from the Democratic National Committee.
So it is a fake left, but go right kind of party; it uses lefty campaigns to keep people back in, but in the meantime it keeps marching to the right and becomes more corporatist, more militarist, more imperialist. This is driving not only the US, but the whole global international community over the cliff. That is really important for we the people in the US and around the world to stand up and insist on – not only in America that works for people in America – but a world that works for all of us. This is within our reach.

RT: Why didn’t you do the same as Sanders and Trump did and join either the Democrats or Republicans. You obviously proved your success and potential in 2012, so why did you not take the presidency route more seriously?
JS: Yes, throughout US history third parties have had a critical influence on the agenda. For example, the New Deal at the time of the Great Depression; social security; workers’ rights and union rights – those all came up through third parties. But in addition, a third party actually won the presidential race at a time of great social upheaval, at the time of the Civil War. When Abraham Lincoln was elected, the Republican Party was an independent third party at that time. So it is not impossible for that to happen in this system.
Yet, what is impossible is for a truly transformative change to happen inside a political party – like the Democratic Party, which is controlled by the Wall Street banks and the fossil fuel giants and the war profiteers. The party has systematically taken down the candidates who actually have integrity, like Bernie Sanders does. He is being marginalized now by the Democratic Party machine, by all the incumbents that they had come out and campaigned for Hillary Clinton, for more of the same, for the big funders, and she is getting lots of that big funding. He will be taken down.
[Sanders] has already said he is going to work for Hilary Clinton. So to my mind that says that you cannot really work for change inside the Democratic Party, because you can’t build. You can only build for as long as you raise, and once you have been marginalized and knocked out of contention, your resources and all the hard work that has been done in a reformist campaign gets absorbed right back into that counter-revolutionary party. And you disappeared, your movement disappeared; you cannot build because you can’t truly identify the enemy. The enemy is not just the billionaires – it is the political parties who are basically working hand in glove for the billionaires.

Nuclear Red Alert. Saudi Fight-Bombers Equipped with Nuclear Warheads
Warning: Saudi Arabia, although a signatory to the Nuclear Weapons Non- Proliferation Treaty has just, in violation of its pledge, acquired atomic bombs from Pakistan.
“We have nuclear bombs”: this is what was said on February 19 on Russia Today by the Saudi political analyst, Daham al-Anzi, de facto spokesman for Riyadh.
He repeated it on another Arab channel. Saudi Arabia had already declared [1] its intention to acquire nuclear weapons from Pakistan (not a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty), of whom it finances 60% of the military nuclear program. Now, through al-Anzi, the Saudis have indicated that they started buying them two years ago. Of course, for Riyadh, this is to confront the “Iranian threat” in Yemen, Iraq and Syria, where “the Russians aid Assad.” That is to say, where Russia supports the Syrian government to free the country from Daesh (Islamic state) and other terrorist groups, financed and armed by Saudi Arabia as part of the US / NATO strategy. See:
YouTube Clip, 26.02.2016 – 1:32 min, Saudi Arabia admits it has nuclear bombs  URL:
Riyadh has over 250 fighter-bombers with dual conventional and nuclear capability, provided by the US and by the European powers. Since 2012, Saudi Arabia is part of the “Nato Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency,” the NATO agency that manages European Eurofighter and Tornado fighters, of which Riyadh bought from Britain twice the number of that of the whole Royal Air Force.  (…)

Reality Check: No Matter Who Wins the White House, the New Boss Will Be the Same as the Old Boss
February 29, 2016
“The main problem in any democracy is that crowd-pleasers are generally brainless swine who can go out on a stage & whup their supporters into an orgiastic frenzy—then go back to the office & sell every one of the poor bastards down the tube for a nickel apiece.” ― Hunter S. Thompson
Politics today is not about Republicans and Democrats.
Nor is it about healthcare, abortion, higher taxes, free college tuition, or any of the other buzzwords that have become campaign slogans for individuals who have mastered the art of telling Americans exactly what they want to hear.
Politics today is about one thing and one thing only: maintaining the status quo bet-ween the Controllers (the politicians, the bureaucrats, and the corporate elite) and the Controlled (the taxpayers).
Hillary will not save the nation. Nor will Bernie, Trump, Rubio, or Cruz.  The only ones who can save the nation are “we the people,” and yet the American people remain eager to be persuaded that a new president in the White House can solve the problems that plague us.
No matter who wins this next presidential election, you can rest assured that the new boss will be the same as the old boss, and we – the permanent underclass in Ameri-ca – will continue to be forced to march in lockstep with the police state in all matters, public and private.
Indeed, as I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, it really doesn’t matter what you call them – the 1%, the elite, the controllers, the masterminds, the shadow government, the police state, the surveillance state, the military industrial complex – so long as you understand that no matter which party occupies the White House in 2017, the unelected bureaucracy that actually calls the shots will continue to do so.
Consider the following a much-needed reality check, an antidote if you will, against an overdose of overhyped campaign announcements, lofty electoral promises and meaningless patriotic sentiments that land us right back in the same prison cell.
FACT: According to a scientific study by Princeton researchers, the United States of America is not the democracy that it purports to be, but rather an oligarchy, in which “economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have sub-stantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy.”       (…)
FACT: Only six out of every one hundred Americans know that they actually have a constitutional right to hold the government accountable for wrongdoing, as guaran-teed by the right to petition clause of the First Amendment.
Perhaps the most troubling fact of all is this: we have handed over control of our government and our lives to faceless bureaucrats who view us as little more than cattle to be bred, branded, butchered and sold for profit.
If there is to be any hope of restoring our freedoms and reclaiming control over our government, it will rest not with the politicians but with the people themselves.
When all is said and done, each American will have to decide for themselves whether they prefer dangerous freedom to peaceful slavery. One thing is for sure: the reassurance ritual of voting is not going to advance freedom one iota.
